Piqué: The Polo Fabric
Piqué is the fabric of the classic polo shirt: a knit worked in a fine raised honeycomb (or bird's-eye) texture instead of jersey's flat face. That micro-structure is why a polo reads dressier than a tee — the surface has depth, holds its shape at collars and plackets, and hides press marks and minor wear the way flat knits cannot.
The style was born on the tennis court a century ago precisely for this mix: knit comfort with a woven's composure.
What piqué feels like
Dry, textured and slightly crisp for a knit, with moderate stretch and good recovery. The honeycomb lifts most of the cloth off your skin, leaving air channels — cotton piqué breathes noticeably better in heat than the same weight of flat jersey. It is also more opaque and more wrinkle-shy.

Piqué vs. jersey
Jersey is smooth, drapey and casual; piqué is textured, structured and composed. Same fiber, same weight, entirely different register — the difference between a tee and a polo IS the fabric. For drape and softness choose jersey; for anything that should look intentional at dinner, piqué.
